Bringing the Four Foundations of Mindfulness Alive in Daily Life (In Person and Online)

  • Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church Sanctuary 315 3rd Ave S. Kirkland, WA 98033 United States (map)

Please join Steve Wilhelm for a daylong on the Eastside on November 8. This is a hybrid event.

Description

One of the Buddha’s most brilliant and useful teachings is the four foundations of mindfulness, his guidance on how we can utilize the tool of mindfulness in every circumstance of life.

In a sense he’s saying that any circumstance – whether pleasant or unpleasant – is equally a doorway to awakening and to inner freedom; if we bring mindfulness to that condition. Truly this brings transformational wisdom to our immediate lives, as we realize nothing is ever “wrong.” It’s just as it is, and even the most unpleasant condition, when brought into our mindfulness practice, can move us forward toward inner freedom and light.

During this daylong we’ll bring the four foundations alive, and learn to harness them for our own well-being, and the well-being of others around us. The day will be comprised of periods of walking and sitting meditation, dharma talks, and plenty of time for discussion in small groups and in the large group.

Beginners are welcome!
