insight Meditation

Insight meditation, or vipassana, is the practice of paying attention to sensations, feelings, and thoughts in and around the body without judgement and with compassion.

Below is a 10 minute guided meditation by Jack Kornfield, to help give you sense of what the practice looks like:

Insight meditation is used as a tool for members of Eastside Insight Meditation to alleviate suffering or craving, build a loving community, and practice compassion with everyone we interact with.

This practice, for a lot of our members, is a tool to counter hustle and bustle, apathy, and shallowness they have experienced in their lives.

Regardless of your spiritual or religious beliefs, you do not have to be Buddhist to practice this meditation, or with us.  We are not a dogmatic community.  As the Buddha said, test the teachings, see what works for you, and take what you need.
