The Highest Blessings of the Mangala Sutta

  • Northlake Chapel 308 4th Ave South Kirkland, WA 98033 (map)

Friends,

For this upcoming Nov. 3 sit of Eastside Insight Meditation, we'll be exploring the  lovely Mangala Sutta.

One of the most beloved suttas of the Pali Canon, this is a beautiful discourse on the highest blessings of life. This expression of gratitude, and inner joy, is a perfect antidote to hard times in the outer world. Often it's chanted  at Clear Mountain Monastery.

Here's a link to the sutta.

Please email Steve for the The URL for the evening at stevellen95@comcast.net, or please come in person to the chapel at Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church, 315 3rd Ave S., Kirkland, WA 98033. We will sit from 7 p.m., ending at 9 p.m.

Please also consider offering dana to Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church, which makes this space available on a dana-only basis, in a very kind and generous way. If you do, please mention you’re from Eastside Insight Meditation.

If you wish to offer dana to the teacher, you can do that in these ways. Your generosity is very beautiful, and will help bring dhamma to others.

Big bows to the kind sangha members who help set up for these 1st & 3rd Tuesday evenings. It’s hugely helpful when you can help. It's also a  dharma practice, to contribute to the  sangha in this way...so consider this a helpful adjunct to your meditation practice.

Here are three thoughts:

- As attendence at Bhante Rahula's quite wonderful offering was surprisingly light, it seemed worthwhile to offer you the recording:

It you are so moved, here's a link to offer dana to Bhante Rahula.  He does much work supporting families and  people with addiction issues in Mexico, so your generosity willl have great impact.

- Many of you have expressed interest in more formal training about the practice, so happy to be offering a six-week introduction to meditation class, starting Jan. 20. This class isn't just an introduction, but also a deeper exploration of how the practice works, how to do it, and how to harness the power of mindfulness in daily life. Usually a significant percent of the class is people with some experience, who are wanting to deepen practice, while for many this is their first exposure. The series will end with a day of mindfulness Feb. 27 at the Seattle Insight  Meditation center in Seattle, jointly taught by Keri Pederson.

- Always I'm available for one-on-one dharma discussions, if this will help you with your meditation practice, or negotiating the rest of your life with dharma practice. Please email at stevellen95@comcast.net, and we can set up a time and date, in person or online.

How wonderful, to harness each moment of our seemingly mundane lives for our awakening, to in turn benefit all beings.

With bows and love,
Steve
