Eight sacred qualities of household life

  • Northlake Chapel 308 4th Ave South Kirkland, WA 98033 (map)

Friends,

For this Tuesday, July 7 Eastside Insight gathering, we'll explore some ways we can make our householder lives sacred, from the sutta Ugga of Vesali, 8.21 in the Numerical Discourses of the Buddha.

How to live a holy life as a householder is always an important question, as we balance our inner life and our householder activities. In exchanges with the householder Ugga, eight qualities were shared that we can extrapolate to our own lives. To be sure some of these are linked to the  culture of the time, 2,600 years ago, but we'll find much here that is applicable to our own lives and choices.

We’ll be gathering at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7.

Please email Steve for the URL for the evening at stevellen95@comcast.net, or please come in person to the chapel at Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church, 315 3rd Ave S., Kirkland, WA 98033.

Please consider offering dana to Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church, which makes this space available on a dana-only basis, in a very kind and generous way. If you do, please mention you’re from Eastside Insight Meditation.

Also you're invited to offer
dana to the teacher, with links and addresses below. Many thanks for your generous dana, which helps pay for retreat and teachings, and helps others on the way.

Big bows to the kind sangha members who help set up for these evenings, now Tuesdays. It’s hugely helpful when you can help, and when you can say you’ll be helping. Thank you!

Just like Ugga, may we find ways to make our seemingly mund
ance lives sacred.

With bows and love,
